FROSIO Award to Tommy Thörn
We are happy to announce that during Overflate 2025 in Bergen Mr. Tommy Thörn received the FROSIO Award for 2025. Congratulations!

The award is a professional distinction established by FROSIO and NKF Bergen, and it is granted within the disciplines of surface treatment or insulation. The justification from the committee was:
The winner of the FROSIO Award 2025 has more than 30 years of experience from various parts of the surface treatment profession and has for a number of years contributed to raising the level of expertise in corrosion protection and surface treatment. It is fair to say that the winner has been a driving force for competency development in the industry, which is shown, among other things, by his strong focus on developing solutions that extend the life of structures, reduce maintenance costs and minimize environmental impact – in line with the industry’s key goal of sustainable corrosion protection.
The winner has developed and conducted a wide range of courses, seminars and training programs in corrosion protection and surface treatment, aimed at contractors, inspectors and technical advisors alike. He has also been a key driving force for modern teaching methods, where e-learning and classroom teaching are combined to make teaching more flexible and accessible.
He has shown an unusually strong combination of professional skills, communication skills and commitment, and through his work has made the corrosion subject more visible, attractive and recognized. His efforts best reflect FROSIO’s values of quality, competence and continuous development.
His work has strengthened the profession’s reputation and development both in the Nordic region in general – and in Sweden in particular, where he has contributed significantly to making the FROSIO certification more known and accessible to the industry. His strong commitment is also evident through his work with the Ytskyddsakademien, where he has inspired both new and experienced professionals to raise their professional level, while also helping to improve practice and quality in the industry.
With his solid experience, pedagogical ability and genuine commitment to professional development, Tommy Thörn is a worthy winner of the FROSIO Award 2025!
